Past simple
or present perfect?
Your goal: keep finished events in the past and choose the present perfect when you are looking back from now.
Allow about 15–20 minutes. You can pause and return to this page in the same browser; check that it shows your saved progress.
1 · Learn it
Open the visual grammar. Compare the “eagle view” with “zoom in”, then follow “Start wide. Then zoom in.”
Read “Focus matters” carefully. Both keys examples describe a past event with a consequence now. Notice what changes when you include yesterday.
2 · Check it
Complete the 20 questions. Choose an answer, press Check answer and read the explanation before moving on.
Try each question before opening a hint. Pay particular attention to finished past times, didn’t / haven’t, and for / since. Adverbs are included too.
Your first checked answer counts. A mistake shows us what to revisit.
Connect it to your speaking
A finished event: “When I got up, I said I was OK.”
A situation continuing now: “I’ve known my friend for years, but I don’t remember when we met.”
Notice got up / said / met for past events and I’ve known … for years for a situation that continues now.
3 · Review and save
At the end, send your first results and review the missed questions. Explain two corrections to yourself before trying again. Use “Send my results” with your personal assignment link. Wait for confirmation. You can also download a copy or send the file to Silvia if online submission is unavailable.
Your answers are saved on this device when browser storage is available. Clicking “Send my results” sends your learner ID, assignment, answers, score and attempt dates to Silvia’s private tracking sheet.
